What is Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)?

TCM is a 2,000+ year-old holistic healing system. It encompasses practices like acupuncture, herbal therapy, cupping, gua sha, food therapy, ear seeds, and moxa, all aimed at restoring your body's natural balance.

What is Acupuncture?

As a core part of TCM, acupuncture involves the precise insertion of single-use, sterile needles into specific points on the body.

How does Acupuncture work?

Acupuncture gently stimulates your body's natural healing response. It creates a "micro-trauma" that draws fresh blood and nutrients to the area, while also activating your parasympathetic nervous system (rest-and-digest mode). This shifts your body out of stress, allowing its innate ability to heal and return to homeostasis.

How does Cosmetic Acupuncture work?

Cosmetic acupuncture harnesses your body's natural healing power for radiant skin. Tiny needles in facial and body points stimulate collagen production by increasing blood flow. This inside-out approach addresses the root cause of skin concerns, naturally treating acne, fine lines, wrinkles, puffiness, and enhancing overall lift, tightness, and glow.

What is Microneedling and how does it work?

Microneedling at Azalea uses sterile, single-use needles to gently puncture the skin, boosting rejuvenation. We enhance this with mindfully crafted Chinese herbal serums, increasing their absorption by 3000%. This TCM-rooted technique powerfully stimulates collagen, improving fine lines, wrinkles, skin texture, age spots, and scars.

What can Acupuncture treat?

Acupuncture effectively treats a wide range of conditions - here at Azalea we focus on cosmetic acupuncture to support holistic radiance & graceful aging, and acupuncture & cupping to support hormone health (cycle regulation, coming off of birth control, preconception), nervous system regulation (stress/anxiety), and supporting digestive wellness and sleep.

Does Acupuncture hurt?

Acupuncture generally does not hurt. You might feel a fleeting, slight pinch upon insertion, or often, nothing at all. A dull, heavy, or achy sensation after insertion is normal and expected.

When will I see results?

Results vary by condition, though most patients feel better immediately after a session. For cosmetic acupuncture, optimal results are typically seen with 1-2 treatments per week for 5-10 weeks, with noticeable skin improvements often by the 4th session. For general acupuncture/TCM, acute issues may require weekly visits, transitioning to monthly maintenance. We'll discuss your specific timeline after your first few appointments.

Is there anything else I should know before my appointment?

Yes! Please wear comfortable clothing that allows sleeves and pant legs to be easily rolled up. Have a small snack beforehand and ensure you're well-hydrated. For microneedling or cosmetic acupuncture, please arrive without face makeup.

Do you take insurance?

We do not directly accept insurance, but we can provide a superbill for you to submit for reimbursement. We also accept HSA/FSA.

How is payment processed?

Payment is due at your appointment. We accept card, Venmo, cash, and check.
